Mizushima facility strengthens Emerson Process Management customer support

TOKYO (November 22, 2008) – Emerson announced it has opened the Mizushima Solutions Center in Okayama, Japan. The center will provide easy access by Japanese customers to the comprehensive suite of automation technology, engineering services, and global project management expertise of Emerson Process Management, and reinforces the company's long-term business commitment in Japan.

The Mizushima Solutions Center, Emerson's second new service facility in Japan following the opening of Chiba Solutions Center in May 2007, operates as a service hub to ensure a quick response to customer requests in the Mizushima industrial area and throughout western Japan. The Mizushima center offers engineering, staging, commissioning, operational support and maintenance contracts, repair and field services and training support to process automation customers.

"Japan is an important market for Emerson, and we continuously provide innovative technologies and solutions to Japanese customers to support their operations," said David N. Farr, Emerson's chairman, chief executive officer, and president. "The opening of the Mizushima Solutions Center strengthens our existing customer support capability in Japan and demonstrates our commitment to investing in and further developing the Japanese market."

The new Solutions Center showcases Emerson's PlantWeb? digital plant architecture, a digital automation solution that networks digital automation systems and intelligent field devices throughout plants to automate processes, optimize assets, and deliver manufacturing efficiency. Diagnostics running automatically in the devices provide continuous indication of their own health and that of the process. AMS? Suite predictive maintenance software reports the information to users, alerting them to process and equipment problems so action can be taken before operations are impacted or shut down. Plant managers can move from reactive to proactive and profitable management, reducing operating costs and improving plant availability and performance.

The Solution Center services and support extend over the full range of Emerson technology, including DeltaV? automation system, AMS? Suite predictive maintenance software, Fisher? control valves, Micro Motion? flow measurement devices and Rosemount? measurement instrumentation.

"Emerson Process Management helps enterprises and plants better manage operations and production through intelligent control systems and software, asset management, measurement instruments, valves and our industry expertise," said Akira Kohzuki, senior managing director and general manager of Emerson Process Management in Japan. "By providing cutting-edge solutions and quality services, we assist our Japanese customers to improve productivity and competitiveness in the global marketplace," he added.

Emerson has supplied innovative technologies and solutions to Japanese manufacturers and enterprises for more than 40 years. Emerson has 15 business divisions operating in Japan, including three manufacturing plants and more than 25 offices covering the Japanese market.
