Intelligent wheels for an electric future

电动机

西门子VDO汽车集团副总Klaus Egger博士说:“混合动力驱动只是未来推进方案道路上的一个中间步骤,我们认为电动机将会成为现实长期的驱动动力的解决方案,因为它能够满足未来最严格排放法规要求。”

A new system has been designed to integrate drivetrain,steering, shock absorbers and brakes directly into the wheels of cars. Replacing conventional wheel suspension with hydraulic shock absorbers,mechanical steering,hydraulic brakes and an electric drive motor,the design promises improved fuel mileage,enhanced safety and greater convenience.
Siemens VDO expects its system,called ecorner,to allow traditional engine architecture to be replaced by electric wheel hub motors,which act directly on the wheels to accelerate the car. The four wheel hub motors will operate independently,offering extremely dynamic driving.
The ecorner system will make it possible to develop vehicles in which drivetrain, steering and brakes provide common support for the driver in critical driving situations, helping to avoid accidents.
Electric motors
With ecorner,electric motos will ensure contact between the wheel and the new suspension, hydraulic steering can be eliminated and each individual wheel can be moved to its own specific steering the speed is reduced,the wheel hub motors act as auxiliary brakes using a generator rgy created in this manner can be used to charge the vehicle y,in addition to the generator brakes,the electronic wedge brakes can decelerate each wheel separately, with maximum precision and enormous braking power.
Egger, group vice president of Siemens VDO Automotive says:"Hybrid drives are only an intermediate step along the path to future propulsion solutions. We consider the electric motor to be the actual long-term drive solution for fulfilling even the most stringent emission laws of the future."
The changeover from cars with internal combustion engines to intelligent electric vehicles will bring benefits for drivers as well as manufacturers. Wheel hub motors are predicted to use up to 96 per cent of their electrical energy for vehicle will make it much easier for automobile manufacturers to satisfy emissions regulations,while simultaneously offering extremely dynamic vehicles with excellent fuel economy.
The system opens up new possibilities for electronic steering aids and controlled acceleration of individual wheels will enable better vehicle stabilisation in hazardous costs for car owners will also be reduced , as using fewer components and eliminating hydraulic systems will reduce wear and service complexity.
The system also has the potential to revolutionise vehicle design by eliminating the need for a central motor.
